New ACOG... now need a gun for it.
Like an idiot I bought a new ACOG TA31RCO-M150 yesterday and now... I need a new AR for it. I was thinking I would replace an EOtech with it but by the time I got home I had already convinced myself just to get a new AR... now, I am seriously going to have to add a second gun safe also!!
This is a $1300 optic so I want something high-end with no real budget.
My first thought is a Noveske 14.5" Thunder Ranch Special Edition since I also a Les Bauer Thunder Ranch 45.
I could go HK-416 (556), LWRC or LaRue Costa but in general, I feel the piston AR's are a waste of money unless you are going to be shooting suppressed using a 10.5" barrel which I won't be doing.
Any thoughts? I want something with a high "cool" factor. I have enough beater ARs so this one needs to be special.

FWIW, Most piston guns suck to suppress since the gas is being released outside the suppressor.
Re: New ACOG... now need a gun for it.
Does it have to be an AR? FS2000's are cool as hell... Kel-Tec RFB is pretty nifty as well. I know that scope is designed for an M4-type gun....just food for thought.

Is that because the bullet is expected to go a certain speed (and have a specific trajectory) out of that length barrel? If that's the case, couldn't you use just about any rifle so long as the proper round/load is selected? Forgive me...Im a relative novice when it comes to glass.

The BDC in the reticle is specifically for the .223/5.56 round so you wouldn't want to use this on a .308 (even though the RFB is seriously cool!).
I have a similar ACOG on my AR15, they're great optics that can take a serious beating.

Noveske or Seekins Precision if I wasn't going to build my own.

Send me the optic and I'll put it on a rifle for you! :thumb:
I can't comment on the 'top tier' ARs but I've heard great things about both Noveske and LWRC

I have found a Noveske locally but it has the stainless barrel vs. the chrome lined. I prefer the chrome lined but it is hard to find any Noveske so I may just get the one with a stainless barrel.

I have a Noveske Diplomat and LOVE IT! I would say a 7.5" Diplomat or an N4 with switchblock if you want to stay away from the NFA b.s.

I would go with the Seekins over Noveske, but both are excellent choices. Another option is JP Enterprises, or SI-Defense (Not sure if they are open again. I know they got bought out and refocused).

Why do you prefer chrome lined? Stainless is superior particularly if you get a match grade, or even better w/ custom barrel.

All of the above are pretty much match guns, meaning they have extremely tight tolerances. Noveske is less of a match gun, and will run better under harsher conditions and environments. However, even so, Noveskes also have very tight tolerances. If you aren't sure what this means for the AR and why this might not be a good thing (doesn't every gun nut rave about tight fit and finishes? ) send me PM so I don't post a novel on here
If this is a range or hunting gun and not for defensive use, I would recommend JP. I've spoken to Seekins and checked out his builds; they are beautifully robust and overbuilt, but not to the extent that you get too much that you don't need. They machine and mfg a lot of parts, in house, IIRC. He is also a nice guy, so I'm putting in a vote for him. There are a lot of top-tier carbine mfg's that are real ***holes. I won a couple of Seekins hats that you can't buy on their website; if you get one and like it, I'll trade you something for them
But seriously; I would look hard at the Seekins. They are very high-quality. I have only used one or two of them and don't have extensive experience, so I'm not going to comment past that. I'm sure there are a lot of reviews out there, however.

I am actually going with a KAC SP-15 in OD Green. I LOVE this gun. I can't wait to get it in my hands. This is really my dream AR.
It won't need much: a slew of OD Green Magpul mags, a sling, a Surefire light and that is about it!
