My tritium fell out!!

Post by Wollychop » 03 Oct 2008, 20:27

WELL, how about this one?

I was carrying my LDA Carry 12 tonight and got home, decided to see how the tritium sights were holding up, went in the backyard and only saw two glowing dots. I thought at first that there might have been something on the sight, but when I came into the light, I saw a hole where the tritium sight used to be!!

Image

You can see the hole in the pic! Its the right rear dot.

I shot an email off to Para Ordnance customer service seeing if this would be covered by my warantee or what, needless to say I'm a bit miffed. I LOVE this pistol, it is the nicest shooting double action I have EVER fired, and want to see this repaired.

Anyone had a similar occurance?

Sorry, I have a negative perception of Para Ord.
I suggest getting a Kimber.

I never really think of quality when I think of Para ORD.

Yeah, I had some trijicons put on a Sig P228 that I have and the front site fell out. The store replaced it for me immediately, because trijicon has a warrantee on them, and had agreed to replace the stock to the store over the phone. Pretty cool in my opinion. second set of sights have been working beautifully.

Oh, and I agree with STG on Kimbers, except in the LDA Para example. You really can't beat a LDA if you want a DA 1911. I have shot a couple and liked them both.

iCe, Get ahold of Jay at Elite. They do the job or you can wait until FNUSA to do it. They have it on their site so they should be available sometime spring 2010.

Sorry, don't need your elitist handguns

Couldn't resist! I like Kimbers too, though one of the reasons I got the LDA was that I found my P14 to be more reliable accross a wide variety of ammunition than my Custom II. Obviously these are full size guns, but it was an indicator to me. They are very well made, but I have just seen them hiccup more. I'm not saying they aren'te exquisite pistols! Just that I had a reason for getting what I got when I was looking for a CCW in .45 ACP. And as a carry the LDA is a fantastic little pistol, very accurate, etc.

Not trying to start a brand war :) Just being defensive.

I'm interested in seeing how they treat me, and it will be a factor in any future purchases. Maybe I can get my wife to call them and cry on the phone... works with cops...

Shoot a PM to panzermk2, panzermk2wife or medula oblongata. MO and Panzer are Ryan and Jay, the guys behind Elite, and panzermk2wife is the chick that actually makes everything happen.

Well, Para is going to take care of me.

They want the slide to install new sights. Can't complain about that! Total turn around time is supposed to be 2 weeks. Absolutely no hassle, nothing, just "yep, send us your slide and we'll take care of you."

Forgot an update. Not only did they hook me up, but they completely replaced the original night sights with brand new trijicons. Very happy with the service and communication. Email and phone contact was easy and I was never given a "call back later".
