Double Barrel 45... I dont get it....

Gunmaker invents chilling double-barrel handgun
8 hrs ago
The Arsenal Firearms AF2011-A1 Double Barrel Pistol is a unique .45 caliber handgun capable of holding 16 rounds of ammunition in its duplex, single-columns magazine as seen on gizmodo’s website. ( © gizmodo / http://gizmo.do/xciAiQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; )

How convenient! Someone has finally invented a weapon that combines the killing power of a double-barreled shotgun with the portability of a handgun. After a decade of development, Arsenal Firearms is turning out a double-barreled .45 caliber, semi-automatic handgun that allows you to shoot two bullets at the same time, Gizmodo reports. The new gun, which can be ordered with one trigger or two, can hit a target the size of an orange 15 yards away and has the power to knock down a bull. As the James Bond-style villain breathlessly says in the over-the-top demo video, "That's performance."

This is a terrible write up for a firearm.. MSN should be embarrassed...

very interesting! might have to look into one of these :)....what happens though when 1 round is a little hotter than the other? i am not speaking of different configurations of ammo, but 2 rounds from the same box, some are a little hotter than the others. in a single slide it wouldnt make any difference really, but when the slide is for 2 rounds, could this cause a slight problem? nonetheless that thing really is pretty neat. a bit too big to CCW for me, but there is always a need for range toys ;)

I'll be honest. I want one. There are a lot of other things I'd get first. But I want one.

It would be fun to tinker with and shoot. But it's not practical so that's about as far as its utility goes.

I don't think that gun is legal in this country. Wouldn't the ATF classify a gun that shoots more than one bullet at a time a machine gun?

Nope one bullet per pull of the trigger. That gun has 2 triggers.

Says it can be ordered with one trigger or two. Also, there's only one slide so if you only pull one trigger does it just eject the other barrel's cartridge?

Probably wouldn't even cycle just firing one, but can probably be made legal to buy that way, now I just need to find a double silencer to mount, ah yes this will for sure be my new carry gun!

Ok, I get it.... But i would prefer a 454 casull revolver.... If you consider two barrels, two slides, two mags, one finger... and double the problems of user and manufacturer... Shot placement/Accuracy means more to me than attempting to hit a bullet with a smaller bullet whilst wearing a blindfold, riding a horse.

I completely understand if some of you don't understand what I am saying... So don't ask....

the more i think about it, how hard is it going to be to pull both triggers that appear to not be RIGHT on top of each other at the exact same time? its not like an old DB shottie where you can fire 1 and then the other or both. 1 slide i would assume means only pull one and the other round just gets ejected and wasted?

and i also would prefer a 454 casull revolver, mines being delivered saturday actually :)

And how many people have said the same about the FsN? Or maybe they said it was a waste of plastic? Either way, I say let 'em have their fun with it, something useful may come out of experimenting with oddities. (For instance, go look in a mirror  )

I might own one just for the hell of it; I wouldn't buy it (well maybe if it was ~$200 I would) but I'm not going to say that no one should.

Too each there on but why? Other than the fact you throw it in a safe and wait for 20 years..

On the legality of this, the U.S. determines a firearm as a machine gun when more than one round is fired for one pull of the trigger. The options for this double-barreled pistol as quoted from their website,

"The AF2011-A1 (“Twenty Eleven” for aficionados) can be ordered either with 2 independent triggers and one sear group (left or right, with user-interchangeability for right or left operations) or with 2 triggers permanently joined and the choice of 1 or 2 sear groups."

So, you can get either 2 independent triggers and one sear group, which lists this firearm as a machine gun (for one trigger or the other will act on the sear and fire both barrels) or with 2 triggers permanently joined w/ 1 or 2 sear groups. As the laws govern the pull of trigger as the determining factor as to the fact a firearm is a machine gun or not, option two will make it legal to own. Even with both triggers permanently joined, you may pull on one (left or right) with only one finger but both triggers are pulled because they are linked. The law doesn't state anything about governing a firearm with two triggers, both needing to be acted upon by a users finger(s) or the fact that a firearm with two triggers require a sear system for each trigger.

Atleast that is my understanding of the law. :ponder: Who knows, maybe we can buy them before the government puts admendments on the law controlling machine guns that includes rules on the number of sear systems and multiple triggers.

As it is an oddity, I'd purchase one just for the novelty and showpiece. Of course I'd take it to the range and play with it too. :D

Looks like the bad guy in the new Bond movie is going to be carrying it:

Guy w/gun is Dave Bautista (Drax, Guardians of the Galaxy), probably playing the villain's henchman.

The fact that it's going to be in a Bond movie actually kind of funny considering Jay's comment 3 years ago.
