But do you have sub-MOA rocks to throw? I'll share some of my stockpile with you! I never need to worry about reading through threads on "When will my LF primer expire?", or "How should I store my ammunition?", or "Can you spoon feed me?",

because my rocks are stored on my patio, exposed to heat, cold, dirt, wind, wet, and they will always be sub-MOA.

Call it Capitalism or supply and demand. If someone wants 200.00 for one FN magazine to me he is a thief and should be kicked in the junk multiple times.

I too have tons of brass bullets etc. I sold my "overstock" but not at these prices. I put them on the forums for a down to earth price. I refuse to gouge my fellow shooter. Some brass I just gave away.

If $200 is now the going rate for a FsN mag, and you refuse to sell yours at that price(or lower) then you value your own mags above $200. If you value your own magazines above $200, how can you get pissed at someone for selling a magazine for less than you personally value it at? :wall: :wall:

There is no logic to support your opinion, and people need to realize that.

I sir do not have any to sell. If I did I would offer them here or 24 hour campfire at MSRP. I do not expect you to believe me but that is how I am. There are other ways to "get paid" besides money.

I don't doubt you that if you sold anything you would sell it for less than its current market value, I don't have a problem with that, you can do whatever you want.

But I'll break this down to the simplest terms possible, using probably the most talked about "price gouged" item out there right now.

A person buys 10 pmags for $100, $10 each. Crazy demand spike happens, pmags now sell for $50 on gunbroker. Market price for pmags is now $50, this persons pmags are now worth $500 whether they keep them or sell them. If that person decides that they would prefer to keep their mags, rather than sell them, this person now values their mags at MORE than $500. If this person who values their mags at more than $50/each gets pissy at people who value their mags for less and decide to sell them for $50, this person is an idiot.....

I'm not saying you fit this description (you probably don't), but 90% of the people b!tching at "price gougers" are either idiots that do not understand economics, people that are just butt-hurt that they aren't capable of cashing in like others do, or people that have a sense of entitlement in regards to product availability.


Simple facts that people need to understand:

1. "Price gouging" in a modern, internet based, open market system that includes unregulated auction websites CANNOT HAPPEN, PERIOD.

2. People buying things at old retail price, when available, then reselling at current market prices, are IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PRODUCTS YOU WANT NOT BEING IN STOCK, if anything they are helping create more product availability than would otherwise exist.

3. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a retailer selling the few items they get in stock at a higher profit margin than when they could sell 10x as many items as they are now. Right now, in the month of February, I would bet that 44mag.com is probably going to do less total sales than they did in November 2012 because the products they sell are not available, yet there are people b!tching left and right about how they will never buy from 44mag again because they are "gouging" prices on the above in stock mags. It's their right to b!tch and complain all they want the same as its 44mags right to sell products at current prices, and it's my right to call them all idiots. Only a small % of them will actually keep their word and never buy from these companies again (because there are only a SMALL handful that haven't raised prices) the rest of them just like to hop on the bandwagon of idiocy because it makes them feel better about not being able to buy their own lifetime supply of pmags, after all it must be somebodies fault if I cannot go buy a pmag at the minimart down the street for $5.

It's a much stronger argument to make that your posts are a socialist-leaning whine-fest than it is to call someone a thief for selling something on an open market website where all sellers and buyers are by definition willing participants.

You've said you sell things for what you think is fair rather than whatever the current market price might be, you do this because you afford to (which means you are giving up $$ because it makes you feel better about yourself, nothing wrong with that), what if you could no longer AFFORD to do this? What if you needed the $$ to pay your mortgage, or for your kids medical bills etc, would you still refuse to sell goods at current market prices? Unless your answer to that question is yes (which it never is) then who are you to judge people for how much they want to sell something for, particularly if the buyer is fully willing to pay that much?

Or you have a burning need and boatloads of money and are willing to pay the full fare. The seller is smart and being responsible to his own financial situation and his family if he has one by maximizing the return on his investment.. Same as with stocks, the market sets the price.
If you live in a house that has increased in value and sell it for a profit then you are not a thief. You are again doing the responsible thing. If your wife sells your guns and mags for 10% of their value to a gun store after you croak then the buyer is the thief and you were stupid for not selling them before that or not keeping a list of the stuff you have with the expected/reasonable selling prices! I have also taken this rare opportunity to unload a BUNCH of stuff I have no need for and I made a profit on most all of it except for stuff I have sold to friends or family. It makes up for the high prices I have to pay for new gun stuff, food, gas.

I was in Sportsman's Warehouse this evening. They have pretty low stocks on just about any ammo anyone wants. They have never had really good prices, but good inventory. They told me that are getting SS197SR in three cases at a time, at least once a week. They don't mark it up more than regular, which is $28.99 a box. It sells out immediately. At least they are getting it in. Someone out there is shooting, or hoarding. I'm still shooting from my stash. It may be worth more, but to me it's only worth the fun and training I get out of it.

I won't complain about the effects of supply and demand. Every business and every industry deals with it. From gas to groceries the effects are there. I simply take note of what something is worth to me and buy accordingly. We can't complain about the effects of free market capitalism at a time we have a socialist King in charge. His socialist agenda doesn't need any extra fuel.
