Gold Star.

+ get a sling for every rifle you own. This is mandatory. Unless you just plan to use the rifle for range shooting. Even then you will find a sling very useful.

Congrats! And I think you are missing the pictures in your post....

You could try getting a light/laser or both from Streamlight/Surefire, and a VFG or added grip option.

For the SCAR, an intermediate range rifle (CQ-600+), I would get a 4x optic that I could use for close range quick engagements, and nothing more than 6x magnification. You want quick acquisition with a wide FOV.

Perhaps a reflex sight, or a Trijicon ACOG, or a Millet illuminated reticle scope, Leup, NF, tactical scopes..

Our sponsors have very good deals. Check out their forum subsection for posted threads on deals or their websites; the banners above. You can also try Optics planet for sights. Aimpoints are very solid sights for around $500 and Eotechs are okay. Trijicons work well, also.

Vertical Fore Grip. You can find these anywhere on the net. I prefer none and a very simple rifle setup. However, the more "tacticool" people on the forum like to put a bunch of stuff on their rifles, perhaps it aides them in the way they shoot. I shoot differently, so each person might prefer different options.

You should try different foregrips and see how you shoot with each one.

Hope that helps!

I would choose an EOTech any day of the week over Aimpoint. Mine has been blown up, beat up, abused and is still running great. You cannot beat them as far as value in the reflex sight division. The only sight I like better is the SpecterDR, but that is a variable zoom scope techically and is 1500 bucks more.

I have been looking at getting the Trijicon RX30 just becausee I dont have to mess with batteries. There arent to many review on it. Has anyone used these before or would you go with a EOTech.

Thanks

Don't ask us.

TRY both. I don't think anyone should have to take that jump and leap on spending $400+ on an EOTech and $1000+ on a Trijicon without trying it.

Everyone shoots a little/a lot differently, make sure the sight works for you. Eotechs also work differently and have different reticles than Aimpoints. Make sure they work for you.

Both modern variants of the Eotechs and Aimpoints are sturdy. Trijicons are much more expensive, but often are magnified and have tritium (no battery) reticles/combination reticles.

I have shot with the RX30, it isn't bad, but I prefer EOTech, especially in low light.

I have an old tried and true 552 that I have had forever. It was an issue that the Army wouldn't take back from me because it was 'too damaged'. I sent it back to L3 and they replaced the slightly cracked window and replaced the holographic module for free. Now except for a few chips in the plastic, it is as good as new. It still worked with the cracked view and old laser, just now it works better. It takes AAs, and as I said, it is bombproof.

I have used countless (3  ) Aimpoints, its what we were issued before deploying, and then over there, getting ACOGs and EOTechs. Spent lots of time in training with them navigating the forests and swamps of Camp McCall and FT Bragg. I don't like em at all, never would pay money for one, mainly because they are not very fast acquisition, I really question their durability. Using them is a bit like using a scope as far as having to look through the reticle to get the optic, instead of just popping up quick like with an EOTech. Also, the first two I had were not durable. If you dropped em, they needed re-zeroing. Right now, aimpoints go for as much as EOTechs, which I find crazy. Plus if you are using NVGs, the 552 and its newer brothers have an IR NV mode.

But, like Blue said, look at them yourself and decide. To each their own.

Sheesh dude, I can drop $4000 on accessories alone and not miss a beat. The world is your oyster when it comes to customizing your weapon from a solid-shooting carbine to yoru own swiss army knife.

I hate oysters...

That spectre DR is pretty nice, I had the opportunity to check out our 556 models here, and although heavy, theyre really solid and the toggle switch (or whatever you like to call it) is very cool. But on the topic of optics, I think the vortex razor hd 1-4x24 with the CQMR-1 reticle is also worth mention (as is their warranty, see my thread for details), I'm not sure if you have the 17 or the 16 but they also have a 556 reticle with bdc and windage although you can essentially do the same with the CQMR-1 and it is also a lot cleaner, not to mention it's first focal plane.

My 2 cents, if youre going to drop that kind of money on an optic, I would tend to favor the variable magnification over the fixed, but it all depends on the budget. A friend of mine has an EOTech, I believe it is the 557, with the .223 bdc type aiming dots, it may not be the exact one. It appears as a straight line without the magnifier and when flip over the magnifier you see the dots.

now you've got me looking at EOTechs for the SCAR I can't buy yet ><

I know the 557, almost buy one in the shop everyday I stop by, and I can see the dots w/o the magnifier. Not sure what you mean about a straight line? Turning down the brightness might help maybe?

Vortex seems like good scopes, but I have only looked at their LR stuff with 50mm objectives. Very bright and clear view in those. Not as good as Leupold or Nightforce, but still solid in my opinion. A bit more affordable as well.

The poor mans option is the Burris 332, and replace the mount with a G&G or LaRue ACOG mount.

I've been playing with one in the store lately, and will be getting one.

The 332 is actually not a bad sight. My pops got one for his AR, and it works really well. Not sure if I would submerse it underwater, but not sure why he would need to either.
