I'm on the fence on which trigger to purchase. I've read some issues with the Timney and with the recent price increase on the Timney's to $309 make it a short bump to go with the Geissele Super Scar Trigger. I could sure use anyone's input that has traveled this path already.

Re: Timney trigger or Geissele Super Scar for the 17 S?
I can't speak to Geissele aside from shooting a friends gun a couple of times. As I recall, it was an excellent trigger.
I have installed Timney triggers in my Ruger 10/22, DPMS AR-15 lower with an AR57 upper and my DPMS LR308. I can tell you that in each case, the installation took maybe 10 minutes - it was a piece of cake.
They consistently have the exact trigger-pull weight as advertised, have no take-up, break ultra cleanly & crisp and have a positive reset. Every time. Thousands of rounds through them and the feel is identical to the first shot.
I thought about trying a Giessele trigger because virtually every review is great, but then I thought - why should I? The Timneys work really well for me and if it aint broke, no need to fix it. Plus they're a little less $$$.
Just my $0.02, YMMV...

Have tested both on a 17S. Prefer the SupserSCAR Geissele trigger.
Although Shooting Sight now offers a SCAR trigger that is a two stage and definitely worth researching before you make your final commitment.

1. What is your application?
2. Are you looking for a single stage or 2 stage trigger?

Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity.
The shooter will always matter more than the gear ever will.
Stop relying on others to do the work for you.

On all of my ARs I use a dual stage, oddly enough I was thinking single stage on this rifle. I was thinking it was designed more for reactive shooting vs. precision, if that make sense?blueorison wrote:1. What is your application?

Many thanks for throwing this option on my radar. I'll start researching it right away. :thumb:fd57 wrote:Have tested both on a 17S. Prefer the SupserSCAR Geissele trigger.

That makes more sense. It is most important to clarify your application and end goal when asking a question, even more so, on a forum.Virginian wrote:On all of my ARs I use a dual stage, oddly enough I was thinking single stage on this rifle. I have used the Timney Trigger in the 17 from Team FNHUSA's.
I prefer single stage triggers over 2 stage, overall, in all disciplines.
I like the Timney Trigger, but have not used it for a long duration, enough, to comment on the reliability. Neither have I used the G trigger to comment on the durability. There have been issues with the triggers both have produced, in the past, but not specific to the SCAR platform.

Definitely look into Art's trigger. He is offering a one-time discount to members of the other forum right now that I think expires today or tomorrow. But even if you miss that don't worry because it is more affordable than either Tim. or Geis. triggers, and thus far nothing but favorable reviews (see also the other forum for those reviews).

I've played with both. I ending up going with the Geissele. It's great for taking long shots and still fast enough for more intimate encounters. It's personal preference and I like being able to take the slack out and know the exact moment the shot will break. That being said, I tell most people that if they want a speed trigger to go with the Timney, it breaks fast and resets fast. If they want a bit more precision go with the Geissele

There is no discount that is expiring for the ShootingSight trigger. My ongoing policy is a 20% discount on one SCAR trigger for vet/mil/pd/fd.
