It's unfortunate, but un-avoidable given the laws involving the mentally ill. Where do you draw the line between protecting the public and violating an individuals right. That line has not been clearly enough defined and doctors and authorities alike need to step-up and start sorting it out. Guns don't kill people on their own, it takes someone to pull the trigger and in this case, the man clearly shouldn't have been a member of open society, let alone have access to a gun. There's no gun law or gun ban that could keep a gun out of the hands of someone like this.

I agree Artos. Gun laws will not stop anyone who wants to get a gun and shoot someone. The percentage of "legal guns" that are used by the owner in an illegal act, is extremely low. It will happen sometimes. However the gun used in an illegal shooting, is normally by someone in a criminal act, that is in possession of the weapon illegally in the first place.
