I knew a guy in Waco that bow-fished and practiced on gar in Lake Waco because nobody cared how many he killed.

Because they are normally a nuisance fish but nothing says you can't eat them. Although I have no idea how they taste

isnt that the massive gar that the guy from "river monsters" tried to catch and failed? that thing is freaking HUGE! as far as shooting/bow hunting them, i am told that is illegal in FL? maybe a different gar i dont know. my buddy is an fwc officer and told me that, but different states make different rules and hell, maybe even a different fish lol. i love to fish, but hate eating fish.

Gator Gar are illegal, because they are highly endangered. But, you can eat them, the meat is really good from what I have heard. I have a buddy from Louisiana who has eaten it, and said it is really good. I am currently getting things in order to go fishing for different varieties of Gar in Land Between the Lakes area of Kentucky and Tennessee.
