Has anyone loaded with the Dillon 550 on the 5.7 round? How well does it work with this caliber? I am a machinist and am considering making a 650 shell plate, but wanted some feedback before I take on this little ( expensive) shop project. Would love some real use feedback.

AH YES quit allot actually. Elite has been selling custom made 550 shell plates for years now. They even come with custom locator buttons. I have sold around 450 of them.

Would like some feedback from some who have used these 550 shell plates. Wonder if the small size of the cartridge causes any issues, ie "wobbling", etc. What powder funnel from Dillon works? Thanks to all.

Use funnel type A.

Some have reported wobbling. I suspect the Dillon locater button hole aren't as precise as the rest of the press is. Even with the custom buttons that come with the plate the tall small diameter cases this can be an issue.

But then I designed the 550 plates and sell them so my opinion is tainted.

Totally different type of press.

I have been using one of the Elite 550 plates for about 3 years now. wobbling is less of an issue with 5.7 than it is for 5.56. My 550 remained set up for 5.7 for almost 2 years as I wasn't loading anything else at the time. I have been very pleased with the set up and would recommend it to anyone who has a 550 and wants to load 5.7 on it.
I did all my initial load development on the Rock Chucker first before I set up the Dillon.
I can't go quite as fast as I can with .45 or 9mm but I intentionally slow it down to check primer seating pressure and visibly see the powder charge in the case and its approximate volume while weighing every 10th one. I use my .223 powder funnel.
