P90 Hi-Desertdog Barrel

Post by Outlaw621 » 20 Mar 2012, 07:59

I know it is 50/50 positive and negative as far as dealing with Hi-Desertdog but I have a simple question.
Has anyone had any experience with their P90 10 3/8" stainless barrel that they sell? I have been searching for a CMMG 10.3" 1x9 twist barrel but have not had any luck. I plan on sending out my factory barrel to TROS (after my Form 1 is approved) and have it cut down for a spare but I would like to have a short barrel on hand so I can SBR the PS90 as soon as the Form 1 comes back.

I really wish someone would chime in here I'm waiting on forms for a 2nd ps90 SBR and was thinking of using this stainless bbl on this one.

Maybe one of us will be the guinea pig.

I would say call Hi-Desert and get their input, but I never got accurate info from them - so I would just have stock barrel shortened.

I did and of course they said "they" were happy with the barrel and it's accuracy.

Where did you get your barrel from & do they do SBR PS90 barrels?

How long did you have to wait on them? I have spoken to them for many weeks and it seems to keep getting extended out further and further.

I'm waiting on the barrel before I even start on my paperwork.

No but it should happen within the agreed upon time frame unless otherwise stated.

Are you buying the barrel or having them turn down yours? If you're buying the barrel from them, they may be having supply issues. Not trying to excuse them, just saying there may be an actual reason for the delay.

And from what I've read of these guys, I would pursue other options if at all possible.

if you have the barrel before the paperwork, you will be in violation of the law.

That's on here somewhere - you can have the SBR barrel but the old barrel still has to be pinned on the gun or something like that.

it is considered constructive intent.
even if you have a 12" bolt gun barrel that needs smithing to be Installed, it is constructive intent.

you can leave it with a relative or friend while you wait on the paperwork though.

You can own barrels if you do not have the associated firearms in the same physical location.

For example, you could own a 10.3" PS90 barrel if you don't own a PS90. Or if the 10.3" barrel is at a house different than your own where your PS90 is.

Do some research and you'll learn more.

Sorry to necro an old thread but I have been trying to get info from HDD, this is my second time emailing them with no response. Is there any other option out there other than cutting barrels down?

GB has PS90 barrels now and then. From both HDD and CMMG. And then of course there are the original P90 barrels sometimes also available.
