HK MP7 chambered in 5.7 x 28
HK MP7 chambered in 5.7 x 28
I realy like the mp7 over the p90, but I want it in the same cartridge as my future pistol(fn57). I have enough mechinist friends to have a semi auto sbr version made, the problem is finding blue prints. If any of you have any blue prints or know were to get them I would love your help. thanks and tell me what you think of the the idea. :ponder:

Re: HK MP7 chambered in 5.7 x 28
As far as i have heard, the MP7 is a full-auto only offering from HK, and will never be available as a semi civilian model. HK has always been very snobby in this area, never offering semi civilian versions of some of its most popular models. And if they do offer one (namely the USC), they turn it into something ridiculous, like a single-stack mag with a stock that looks like they glued together a broken crossbow.
Only when HK faces the fact that they're going to lose money on the MP7, will they dump semi civilain models on the market for the "rest of us". I can guaratee you it won't look like the LEO version if they do, and you'd obviously have to SBR it. But rechambering it to shoot the 5.7x28 reliably, the key word being reliably, would probably be very difficult, and not worth the effort in my opinion.
Oh ps... if you really like the MP7 over the PS90, maybe the place for this thread is over on the HK forum, and not here. :p

Re: HK MP7 chambered in 5.7 x 28
well I guess I will have to get my class 7 some day. And as for going over to the HK forum, I don't recall hk making any thing in 5.7 and I'd like to stick to that round. I'll rethink the p90.
But I would still love mp7 blue prints if I could get them.
Also why would I go to HK forums eveyones so nice here and not to mention that I havn't seen any couch potato gun experts on here.

Exactly. We're either couch potatoes OR gun experts. Well, sometimes both, but not at the same time...

I find out odd, there are no civi 4.6 guns, but you can buy 4.6x30mm from Midway

The first time I saw that ammo for sale on midway I was like whaaaaaaaaaaaaat.Buffman wrote:I find out odd, there are no civi 4.6 guns, but you can buy 4.6x30mm from Midway
Would make a neat squirrel cartridge in like a T/C or something.
Re: HK MP7 chambered in 5.7 x 28
23Q19, I hope it works out. The MP7 in my opinion would be the ideal platform for the 5.7 cartridge. Light compact, short and flat. good luck

Re: HK MP7 chambered in 5.7 x 28
So, a Fiveseven Pistol with a 10rd mag extension...
Significantly lighter than the MP7
More firepower, better cartridge, 30 round capacity
Significantly smaller than the MP7
Mostly polymer, very small magnetic signature
Its FN and not HK :thumb:
Cheper
Its almost like if you put a small folding stock and a foregrip on the Fivseven it would out-do the MP7 any day of the week. I'd like to see FN make a compact carbine around the 5.7x28 catrdige too.
Oh wait... they did, the P90
I guess what we're looking for is the "middle gun", the 'unicorn' 5.7x28 weapon that lies between the FiveseveN and the P90, or a Subcompact SMG.

You can SBR the 5.7 pistol with KPOS. Have the barrel threaded for suppressor & get as close as you are going to get for MP7. Warning that would turn your pistol into a 2 stamp gun. All NFA rules would apply.

Re: HK MP7 chambered in 5.7 x 28
HK went their "OWN WAY" and made an even smaller cartridge for a sub gun to compete with the PS 90. It is a "standard" format sub gun with none of the innovation of design found in the revolutionary P90/PS90.
The Krauts were too proud to use the P90. "Pride goeth before a fall."
But I like Danesthesia's suggestion for a KPOS conversion of the Five Seven pistol. Oooo! Oooo! Pure sex!

Re: HK MP7 chambered in 5.7 x 28
Yeah, H&K fell prey to the mostly American syndrome of "Not Invented Here" (the P90) so they invented their own sub gun that would defeat Level III soft body armor.
And so they did, developing a cartridge that has less kinetic energy downrange than the 5/8x28 and a gun that is good but not as innovative as the P90. And of course got it accepted by NATO for God knows what reason. Like NATO really needs yet another sub gun cartridge in its inventory.
I must admit, the American military has come a long way from its previous small arms ethnocentrism when they purchased both medium and light machine guns from FNH and a handgun from Beretta and updated it with one from SIG, our newest all service sidearm.

Now they come as "pistols" with braces, so welcome to 2018! Where your dreams come true!Danesthesia wrote: ↑11 Mar 2017, 18:54You can SBR the 5.7 pistol with KPOS. Contrary to popular belief, you CAN fix stupid - it's just illegal.

no Sir...
What they are hinting at, do not know yet. Just parts to switch Mp7 over to 5.7? A semi auto Mp7 in 5.7 for US?

Oooo, an actual MP7 - sweet.
From their comments it kinda looks like they are just making all the parts & another company, Tommybuilt, is making the receiver since GSG9 isn't an FFL. Then I guess you assemble it yourself?

Re: HK MP7 chambered in 5.7 x 28
From what I have gathered (NOT confirmed) Todd Baily is working with Tom Bostic to make the semi-auto, 5.7 X 28, MP7s.
I am watching this very closely. I really want one.
