Is there any reason to believe that the relatively larger mass of the Aimpoint micro red dot sights (H-1, T-1, R-1) will be problematical mounted on an FSN with a Mini-Slide compared to a Burris FastFire II?
Has anyone had personal experience with an Aimpoint Micro dot mounted on an FsN using Jay's Mini-Slide?
Any photos?

I have no clue. I never tested anything that big on the FsN.

It's hard to dig out comparative measurements for both the Burris and the Aimpoint Micro Red Dots, but the I never thought as the Aimpoint Micro as being "that big." The Aimpoint appears to include an integrated Pic/Weaver mount whereas the Burris does not. That might equate to the Aimpoint weighing in at 3 oz compared to the Burris at 1.6 oz with it's mount - not as big a percentage difference as I thought before I found a reference that indicated that the weight of the Burris and it's additional mount was 1.6 oz. Is an additional 1.5 oz of mass for the Aimpoint Micro considered significant?
The Aimpoint Micro appears to be a bit wider than the FastFire and height seems fairly close from what I can surmise from the respective websites if the Burris mount is factored in. Length is a little trickier but I'm guessing that Aimpoint's published length of 2.4" is for the entire optic and not for the tapered base/integrated mount which appears below:

When you consider that it is recoiling back with the slide, double the weight could mean a pretty big impact on function/safety.

Exactly my concern. Thats why I was asking if anyone has been using it.romer522 wrote:When you consider that it is recoiling back with the slide, double the weight could mean a pretty big impact on function/safety.

Well it looks like you get to be the first. If something goes it should be the lower section of the factory site base and that can easily be replaced/fixed.
I will help out.

Slightly off-topic but I've been considering either an Aimpoint Micro or Trijicon RMR for my FN57.
I will go w/replacing the rear sight w/a mount if needbe but I've seen some Glocks where the Optic was somehow attached directly to the slide right in front of the rear sight thus leaving the iron sights intact.
Is it feasible to attach an RMR or Micro directly to the fn57's slide to both preserve the rear sight *and* provide iron sight cowitness through the optic?
Thx!...

Not without major re-engineering of the slide. The Glock has plenty of steel to machine a slot is not. The FsN does not, in fact very minimal steel.

I suspected as much but figure it didn't hurt to ask, thx! Guess I'll wait for TrueHunterSupply's RMR mount.panzermk2 wrote:Not without major re-engineering of the slide. The Glock has plenty of steel to machine a slot is not. The FsN does not, in fact very minimal steel.

Tomac,
Or you can try EA's picatinny mount for the FsN. It is slightly higher than a direct mount for a RMR, but mine is excellent and allows any picatinny mount. I threw a Leupold Deltapoint on mine, which (just my opinion) is a much better RDS than the RMR or Fastfire.
