Do you think we'll be seeing this at SHOT this year, or is it still a ways out?panzermk2 wrote:Full, the 5.7 just won't work in anything shorter than 4, and by that I mean ballisticaly.

I don't know.
Originally it was to have a alloy frame. Changing that to poly delayed everything.

So, what is the gun everyone is beating around the bush about?

Wow? Is Taurus building a FsN twin? Cool!

So then Kel-Tec is rigging the PMR-30 to shoot 5.7x28?panzermk2 wrote:I can't say yet. Thankfully I can say it is NOT Taurus.

Oh man... Taurus.. would definitely not even consider it. Might as well be a new production Sig.... useless.

People have joked that glock would do it. Would be funny it happened. Doubt this company though.

Re: Why is the FiveseveN so much more expensive...
That's a disappointment, but it makes sense.
As to the speculation above that it's Glock - not likely, since Jay said they will be offering both hammer and striker fired options. Additionally, he said earlier that they would be reusing FsN magazines - this would [likely] exclude major manufacturers who do their own magazine design, like Glock, Sig Sauer, HK, Smith & Wesson, etc. Jay has already [mercifully] ruled out Kel Tec & Taurus. Also, it looks like it'd be the kind of size of manufacturer who's 'owner' would be reachable directly by Jay - this would likely exclude large corporate cultures like Sturm, Ruger & Co. and the aforementioned mainstream manufacturers. Not many left on that plate who are likely to re-use other manufacturers magazines - maybe something like Kriss (who reuses Glock mags in many of their products).
Speculation!

Kinda insulted. I actaully talk to and know many folks in the larger companies. There are many FsN fans out there who just happen to work at other gun companies.

Re: Why is the FiveseveN so much more expensive...
Nah, no insult or judgment intended - and FWIW I certainly respect you (and let my money do the talking as I submitted an ~$500 order from your company back on Jan 2). You said you sent the 'owner' a message - most of the large companies do not have a singular owner you can reach out to - that's the title structure for a smaller, private company (so I was only making a fair inference, not a proclamation on your standing with firearms companies).
That said, I'd certainly be thrilled if any of the companies I excluded in my wild speculation turned out to be investing in the 5.7 platform; it just seems less likely given the criteria you have provided so far. In my prior guess of Kriss as a possible candidate, I think EAA and some of the Century Arms imports (like Grand Power) might also fit within the criteria of a polymer striker or hammer fired 5.7 pistol that re-uses FsN mags and comes in around the $600 range!

EAA, tough one unless Tanfoglio made it.
CAI They can at times fall back into their bad habit of "pissed off drunk monkeys" assemblers.
Using the term owners was wrong. Tommy Thacker used to be FNH product manager for the FsN and is now running Armalite, very well I might add, I have him on speed dial still.
Beretta still has owners..........

Well then give him a call and tell him to quit holding out on us with all those AR-10 Mag Catches!!!
He is the only one that makes them to the required spec, (Longer threaded rod, larger mag catch tab)
about to design my own !!!

Glock is also the "only pistol of it's kind"...and it's MOSTLY made of traditional steel.Buffman wrote:1. Only pistol of it's kind 2. It's FN

The frame is by far mostly polymer except for the rails molded into the polymer.Kilibreaux wrote:Glock is also the "only pistol of it's kind"...and it's MOSTLY made of traditional steel.Buffman wrote:1. Only pistol of it's kind 2. It's FN

There was a "rumor" at Shot Show 2017 that Sig is bringing a 5.7x28 to market soon.

It would be cool, as I"m a Sigaholic, but seems unlikely it's the one Jay is talking about coming to market. Sig isn't likely to use FN's magazines and they have already released the glossy final print 2017 product catalog (which did include the new P220 Legion).
I wish it was Sig who was going to offer the new 5.7 handgun; just doesn't seem likely. :/

Re: Why is the FiveseveN so much more expensive...
I would be glad if it weren't Sig who brings it to market. Their old German guns were great, but all this new American (sadly) crap is unreliable as hell across the board (source: personal experience with multiple new and used Sigs in the past 6 years). Their 9mm's are the only gun that are somewhat reliable, until you get some sand in them and they fail (source: MAC's test of the overpriced Legion).
With the lower quality AE ammo, I wouldn't want a less reliable mfg to make a less reliable firearm... that would be disastrous.
Disclaimer: I'm not here to bash Sigs or hurt anyone's feelings.
