REM T3b for the Black Ring Sight now on sale

Post by M1P90 » 07 Jul 2009, 10:57

The REM T3b for the PS90 USG "Black Ring Sight" is now available for sale and is in stock.
The Price is $39.95 shipped. I take Visa, Mastercard and Discover or check or money order. I do also take PAYPAL.
Go to http://WWW.M1Bullpup.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to pay.

The Reticule Enhancement Module (T-bar) 3b is to be used as a back up to the Black Ring Sight. Try to rely on the Black Crosshairs when possible.

The Reticule Enhancement Module 3b (REM T3b) fixes the problem that is inherent in the Black Ring Sight. We all know in certain low light conditions the Ring Sight looses its sight picture. When that happens just turn on the REM T3b and you will get a sharp T bar sight picture.

The REM T3b Illuminates the T bar via a colored LED red or green or blue that is attached to the underside of the Ring Sight. There needs to be minor drilling and gluing to affix the T3b to the Sight.

It has 11 illumination settings so the T bar can be seen outdoors in daylight (on its brightest setting) or in total darkness (on its lowest setting). The REM T3b fits in the sling well just under the Ring Sight. It is ambidextrous so it can be mounted on the left or right side of the rifle.

The REM T3b uses one CR2032 3 volt battery. The battery life is 106 hours of continuous use.

Since we did not make the Rheostats...
The REM T3b has a 1 YEAR Warranty. I will replace it if it fails due to a manufacturing problem. (I will have to examine it first to make sure there wasn't some other factor that caused the failure). You just pay for the shipping ($5.00). If after 1 year a manufacturing problem should occur... contact me and I will see what I can do for you.

The REM T3 comes with a 30 day money back guarantee. If you are dissatisfied with it, please send it back to me and I will give you a full refund. (You just pay the shipping)

No.
The white reticle sight needs the LED housing to fit in the light collection well while the
black reticle sight needs the LED to be permanently attached to the underside. Also, the wire needs to be 1/2 inch longer.

There needs to be a minor operation on the USG sight in order to expose the tritium bar and to attach the LED. Make sure you don't cut too deep or you may damage the glass optic.
I'll do the procedure at no extra cost.

You will need a Dremel and use this tool to drill a hole in the rubber Tritium cover.
Image

You will also need an exacto knife to finish cleaning out the hole to expose the Tritium.
Image

NOW THE FUN STARTS.

1) Cut a small hole the size of the LED and expose the Tritium bar. Be careful not to drill the Tritium. (drill slowly)
Image

2)Make sure the hole is centered.
Image

Image

3) Finish removing debris from hole by cutting the rubber and pulling it out with tweezers.
Image

4) Picture of completed hole.
Image

5) Use 5 minute epoxy to attach T3b to Ring Sight
Image

6) Immobilize the T3b to the Ring Sight and insert the LED into the hole.
Hold it in place with the tip of the exacto knife.
Image

7) While holding the LED in place, Cover the LED and rubber area and part of the metal with the 5 minute epoxy. You will have to hold the LED for 5 minutes.
Image

8) After 5 minutes pull out the knife and then use the back flat part of the knife to hold the LED in place untill the epoxy solidifies. (another 5 munites)
Image

9) Completed process.
Image

10) Carefully bend the LED wire to the side of the Ring Sight you desire.
Image

11) Attach the REM T3b to the rifle and re-attach your Ring Sight.
ALL DONE!!
Image

You can now see the cross hairs in any light condition and against any background.

REM T3b Instruction Manual

Thank you for purchasing this upgrade to your PS90 Ring Sight. The REM T3b was designed to maximize your shooting pleasure by fixing the deficiencies of the Ring Sight.

Image

Installation
1) Carefully bend the LED wire
to the side of the Ring Sight you prefer.
2) Place the dialed rheostat on one side of the Sling Well and the small holder on the other side. Tighten the mounting screws until both sides are secure. Use the Allen wrench that is supplied for this procedure. (DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN) to prevent damage to the screw pins. You can use BLUE thread locker if you like but it is not necessary.
3) Re-attach your Ring Sight to the PS90.

Image

You can now turn on and use the REM T3b.

NOTE: The REM T3b does not interfere with the Tritium Bar so in total darkness you can still rely on that as a light source if desired.

NOTE: When using the REM T3b in total darkness, with no tactical lights in use, you may notice a slight glow on the front optic glass within short distances (less than 10 feet.) This does not interfere with use of the REM T3b.

Battery Replacement
Hold the “numbered part” of the Rheostat so it doesn’t turn. Turn the outside Rheostat battery cover counter clockwise to remove cover. The REM T3b uses one Lithium 3volt CR2032 battery. This package contains ONE spare battery for your convenience.

Warranty
This Product is warranted against original defects in material and/or manufacturing for one year. This warranty is void if the unit has been abused, disassembled, or modified/tampered with in any way from its original configuration.

This warranty does not apply to defects caused by normal wear and tear, improper handling, incorrect installation, accidents, and alterations/modifications to the original configuration, repairs made by unauthorized parties, aftermarket accessories, or abnormal use.

We hope you find the REM T3b to be a great enhancement. We invite your comments. If you have any questions, concerns or comments, please contact us at 978-852-8584 or [email protected].

A couple questions : When mounted, does the wire / dial block the backup iron sights on the side that it is mounted on?
If I send you my optic, can you install the LED, then send it back to me for re-mounting?

good gravy those are cool! I've seen the illumination before, but not in the green and blue. Love the blue, so cool looking.. and the green..and the red
I used to have a scope that cycled through red and green, should have kept that :( .

M1, have considered making a multi-color version? When you turn the power from 1-11 it cycles a color for a section of power levels i.e.: Green for 1-4, Red for 5-8, Blue for 9-11. They make LEDs that can cycle colors correct?
Judging from the pictures you took blue is the brightest i imagine this makes it more effective in higher levels of light (or does it start to wash out on bright, lighter toned backdrops?)
Red looked like a good middle color and green seemed to keep a low yet visible level on #1 making it ideal for dark situations where you don't want to be blinded by your sight.

Or one that cycles through Green for 1-5 and Blue for 6-11 I would jump on that in a heart beat! Is that a possibility?

Hey Freelienr,
The RED color is actually the brightest on setting 11 with GREEN being the second brightest with BLUE being the third. However by changing the 2032 battery to TWO 2016 batteries the BLUE and GREEN really blast! But when you do that the lower settings are also much brighter and the battery life is deminished.

The BLUE is very easy on the eyes in the low light. The camera makes it look brighter then it really is but it is brighter then the GREEN on setting 1.

I haven't heard of an LED that has 3 colors to cycle through. hmmmm. Interesting idea.
The LEDs I use are 5000 mcd and I think the by colored ones are much much lower.
I'll look around to see whats out there. :thumb:

One thing I did discover during EA's bullet testing the last few weeks. In a snow covered environment Green is better then blue. The sky reflecting off the snow has a blue hue making it hard to see the blue reticule. Green does not have this issue.

It's not a matter of how bright but color frequencies. Look at the snow in this pic. Its very accurate in showing how the snow had a blue hue. This is why when you want colors to stand out from each other you pick one opposite each other on a color wheel.

Here a couple pics of the (BLUE) REM T3 on snow. :thumb: RED is the most popular color because it stands out from most backgrounds. :thumb:
Remember if you use two 2016 batteries it will make it brighter.

Holy crap. Now THAT is a color wheel.

For me, red and orange works best for any electric or analog sight system. Green gets washed out in bright sunlight and grass, as Jay has posited, blue is not great for snow. I think there is a reason most red dots sights use... red dots. Btw, I am in LOVE with that retical. I'm sure yall have heard me say it, but the G36 and P90 use it... I still haven't been able to find the same retical in any sight that mounts to a picatinny/AR, any thoughts?

But the blue and green got a mr. factor like no other.
At the end of the day though, red is the most versatile.

Here are some interesting facts about the colors and how your eyes ract to them though:

http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hb ... dcone.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"Rods Do Not See Red!

The light response of the rods peaks sharply in the blue; they respond very little to red light. This leads to some interesting phenomena:

Red rose at twilight: In bright light, the color-sensitive cones are predominant and we see a brilliant red rose with somewhat more subdued green leaves. But at twilight, the less-sensitive cones begin to shut down for the night, and most of the vision comes from the rods. The rods pick up the green from the leaves much more strongly than the red from the petals, so the green leaves become brighter than the red petals!

The ship captain has red instrument lights. Since the rods do not respond to red, the captain can gain full dark-adapted vision with the rods with which to watch for icebergs and other obstacles outside. It would be undesirable to examine anything with white light even for a moment, because the attainment of optimum night-vision may take up to a half-hour. Red lights do not spoil it.

These phenomena arise from the nature of the rod-dominated dark-adapted vision, called scotopic vision."

Also here is a fun little color game http://www.colormatters.com/optics.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Nothing compares to the Color Sphere http://greg.org/archive/2007/08/08/phil ... kugel.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; this one isn't as impressive as an actual sphere a student painted for one of my profs back in college. The outside of the sphere was painted like the linked image, but then it split in half and the inside plain was the dark and light tones for each color. An absurd amount of work. All hand painted and colors mixed by hand.

"Although they are much more light sensitive than the green and red cones, it is not enough to overcome their disadvantage in numbers. However, the blue sensitivity of our final visual perception is comparable to that of red and green, suggesting that there is a somewhat selective "blue amplifier" somewhere in the visual processing in the brain."

Thanks for the post, very informative. I read the article.

So for low light, green truglos give best visibility. In the light, orange/red will be the best indicators.

but if you want a light that won't interfere with your natural night vision, red is the best.

* i imagine this is why most recitals are red, you want to see your crosshairs on your target, not just your glowing crosshairs. This is of course only a real necessity in tactical or hunting situations,. With target shooting and the like this will not matter so i vote blue or green!

Am i getting it wrong or can you change the color on the black ring sights? Or was it just an option to make the tritium light up with the black ring and the color options are only for the original white ring sights?

I install for free the T3b to your Black ring sight but you can do it yourself.

so both sights can have the color change? cool.

I wasn't sure if there was a difference between the two sights in how they were illuminated.

:D Just received this e-mail from another satisfied customer! Made me proud! :thumb:

"got it in the mail today.

this little ps90 add on is why america is great. ppl think it is the constitution, or our founding fathers, both of which are obviously great. but really why we are an amazing nation is because of ppl like you. everyday americans who see a problem and fix it. the culture that allows each of us to be an entrepreneur, that no idea is stupid, and everyone can make a difference is what makes this place the best place on earth.

sorry to be such a cheese fest, I'm just impressed at this side business you started, and while you can definitely tell the product is made by somebody outside a normal mfg line, it is one of the greatest things I've purchased in a long time. and believe me, I buy a lot of top end [stuff].

I feel privileged that you let me buy your craftsmanship.

:gavel: As of today 7/6/15 all future orders are Backordered about 60 days. I am having aluminum molds made so once the new REMs start coming off the line there will be a price reduction. I am shooting for around $50 each. I'll post the new price once we get closer to full production.

Stay tuned...

I have stopped taking any new orders of the REM T3s, REM T3Bs and REM T3GDs until I get the new designed REM on the market. It should take about 6 months. I will be filling all backorders within the next months as parts trickle in.
I have found a good Molding company that will mass produce these so the new price point will be around $40. It will take time to get the new molds made and get the production going.
You will love the new REMs and Packaging! :)

It Has been a loooooooong tedious journey but I am back in business. I just receive my shipment of REM T3s and REM T3GD all packaged and ready to ship. The REM T3Bs will still be made by me and I will still attach it to your ring sight for free if you like. The new price of these are $39.95. My website is up and running so you can order them there. www.M1Bullpup.com
I also now have the REM 21 that attaches to the Mepro 21 sight. That is $29.95. I'm happy to finally be back! :D
